Sikkim University was founded on 2^nd July 2007, through an Act of Parliament, and has made significant progress since then. I have seen the University evolve since 2008. Despite various obstacles, we have worked hard to position Sikkim University as a leading academic and research institution in India, with the goal of creating skilled professionals for a global job market. I take great pride in the teamwork of our students, faculty, and staff who have focused on enhancing learning, teaching methods, and university management, ensuring our academic programme and administration flourish. We also recognize the vital contributions of past Vice-Chancellors, former statutory officers, and former staff, both teaching and non-teaching, who have left their mark on the University.

The construction of the permanent campus is progressing well, with 74% completed, thanks to support from the Ministry of Education and the University Grants Commission. The first phase of Package-1 is set for completion by this year, with six departments already moved. Our focus remains on improving facilities for students and staff while fostering a robust research environment, which is crucial for the University’s future. The ongoing development of the campus will help overcome current challenges and enhance our ability to attract more students, faculty, and global partnerships. Read More..
