HIGHLIGHTS:
The Department of Botany was established in July 2011. Started as Department of Ethno-botany and Social Medicine Studies, it was renamed as Dept. of Botany in 2013. The department focuses on study of plant diversity in the backdrop of rich biodiversity and cultural heritage of the Eastern Himalayas and envisions brightening its future in the areas of research, teaching and public outreach. Its course provides modern methodological, theoretical and practical instructions, as well as introductions to rich biodiversity and to the broad range of human expression, including ethno-medicinal systems of the region. The department offers Master’s and Ph.D programmes in Botany.
