About The Department

The department established in 2013, is designed to focus primarily on Socio-cultural and Physical Anthropology. It aspires to combine theories, advance methodologies and applied aspects of Anthropology with a specific and intensive research interest in Sikkim and India’s Northeast region as a whole. Regular seminars and guest-lectures are conducted by visiting scholars from both within and outside the country. The department has well-established Physical Anthropology Laboratory and recently installed Archaeological Laboratory-cum-Ethnographic Museum.
